Why Choose Ischia for Your Destination Wedding?

Why Choose Ischia for Your Destination Wedding?

People don't come to Ischia to impress anyone. They come to enjoy one of the happiest moments of their lives.

One of the things I appreciate most about this island is that it has never become a place built only for tourism. Of course, you'll find beautiful hotels, elegant restaurants and luxurious experiences if that's what you're looking for, but you'll also find something that has become surprisingly rare in many famous destinations: authenticity...

If you asked me why I would choose Ischia for a destination wedding instead of Capri, the Amalfi Coast or any other famous Italian destination, I probably wouldn't start by talking about luxury hotels or breathtaking views. Those places are beautiful, of course, but that's not what makes people fall in love with Ischia.

What makes this island different is the way it makes you feel.

I've lived here all my life, and after meeting couples from all over the world, I've realised that almost everyone arrives with the same expectations. They think they're coming to a beautiful island where they'll celebrate one of the most important days of their lives. What they don't expect is how quickly they begin to feel at home.

A destination wedding shouldn't feel like organising an event. It should feel like planning the beginning of your next chapter together.

There's something about Ischia that's difficult to explain until you've experienced it yourself. Life moves at a different pace here. People take time to enjoy lunch, to stop for a coffee, to watch the sunset without looking at the time. It isn't an island that asks you to impress anyone. Quite the opposite. It almost invites you to slow down, breathe and simply enjoy where you are.

I often notice the same scene when couples arrive at Gabbiano Beach for the first time. They walk onto the terrace, look out towards the sea and, almost instinctively, take out their phones. They look around for someone to take a picture of them together, they smile, kiss, order a drink and then... they stop. For a few minutes they simply sit there, looking at the sea and imagining what their wedding day could feel like. It's one of my favourite moments because, without saying a word, you can almost see them thinking, "This is exactly what we were looking for."

One of the reasons couples fall in love with Ischia is that a wedding here naturally becomes more than just one day. Friends and family usually stay on the island for several days, turning the celebration into a shared holiday. There are beaches to discover, thermal spas, boat trips, historic villages, local restaurants and sunsets that somehow bring everyone together at the end of the day. By the time the wedding arrives, your guests already feel relaxed, and that changes the atmosphere completely.

Every couple has a different story. That's why we never believe in standard weddings.

When couples visit Gabbiano Beach for the first time, I often notice the same reaction. They walk onto the terrace, take out their phones, look for someone to take a photo of them together and then simply stop to admire the view. It's usually at that moment they begin to imagine their wedding day. Seeing the sunset over Citara Bay, with the sea just a few steps away, makes everything feel real.

Every couple is different, and that's exactly why we don't believe in standard weddings. Some dream of a relaxed sunset dinner with close family and friends, while others imagine a lively celebration with music, dancing on the beach and a full evening of entertainment. Our role is simply to help create a wedding that feels like you, while allowing you to enjoy every moment with the people you love.

What makes Ischia special isn't only its beauty. It's the people who make every experience unique.

If you're considering Ischia for your destination wedding, we'd be delighted to welcome you and help you discover why so many couples choose to celebrate one of the happiest days of their lives on our island.

About Gabbiyaah

Gabbiyaah is the voice behind The Ischia Guide.

Every article is inspired by real places, personal experiences and everyday life on the island. Rather than collecting information from travel websites, the aim is to help couples and travellers discover the authentic side of Ischia through the eyes of someone who has lived here since childhood.

Growing up on the island has taught me that Ischia isn't defined only by its beautiful scenery, but by its people, its traditions and the genuine way visitors are welcomed. Whether I'm writing about local food, hidden beaches or destination weddings, my goal is always the same: to help you experience the island as we do.

The most beautiful weddings aren't remembered for how much they cost, but for how they made people feel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do so many couples choose Ischia for their destination wedding?

Because Ischia offers something that's becoming increasingly rare: authenticity. Couples don't just come here for beautiful photographs. They come for an island where family-run businesses, genuine hospitality and breathtaking landscapes still go hand in hand. A wedding in Ischia naturally becomes part of a holiday shared with the people you love.

Is Ischia a good destination for a wedding?

Absolutely. Ischia combines spectacular sea views, historic churches, Mediterranean cuisine, thermal spas and beautiful beaches, all within a relatively small island. Guests can enjoy several days discovering the island before and after the wedding, making the celebration feel like a shared holiday rather than a single event.

Why choose Ischia instead of Capri or the Amalfi Coast?

Capri and the Amalfi Coast are extraordinary destinations, but they offer a very different experience. Ischia is generally more relaxed, more authentic and less driven by appearances. Visitors often tell us they feel comfortable here almost immediately, enjoying the island at their own pace while discovering places that still feel genuinely local.

Is Ischia more affordable than Capri?

In many cases, yes. Accommodation, restaurants and many local services are often more accessible than in Capri, allowing couples to create a memorable destination wedding while making the most of their budget. More importantly, Ischia offers an incredible variety of experiences for guests without requiring them to travel long distances across the island.

What is the best time of year to get married in Ischia?

Late May, June and September are usually our favourite months. The weather is warm, the sunsets are spectacular and the island is full of life without reaching the peak crowds of August. They offer the perfect balance for a relaxed seaside wedding.

How long should guests stay in Ischia?

We usually recommend at least three or four days. This gives everyone enough time to enjoy the beaches, explore picturesque villages, visit the thermal parks, take a boat trip or simply relax before the wedding day. One of the greatest advantages of getting married on an island is that the celebration becomes part of a memorable holiday.

What makes Gabbiano Beach different?

We believe every wedding should feel personal. Some couples dream of a relaxed sunset dinner by the sea, while others imagine a lively celebration with live music, dancing and entertainment. Rather than offering a standard package, we work with each couple to create an experience that reflects their personality. Combined with one of the few fully covered seaside venues on the island, exclusive use of the restaurant and uninterrupted sunset views over Citara Bay, this allows every celebration to feel truly unique.
